The Nebraska Press Association Foundation is offering $2,000 scholarships for the 2016-17 school year to graduates of Nebraska high schools who are majoring in journalism at Nebraska-based colleges and universities.
Students must be enrolled full-time in a journalism program that prepares students for at least an entry level position in print journalism.
Scholarships will be given to students with an interest in news, editorial, photography, circulation, production or advertising careers on weekly, semi-weekly or daily newspapers.
Winners will be chosen based on scholastic ability and good citizenship.
To apply, students will need a recommendation from a college counselor. Scholarship funds will be paid to the college or university upon satisfactory completion of the first semester and proof of second semester enrollment.
The application form must be filled out by the applicant and an essay must be provided. Mail or email the application to the NPA Foundation Scholarship Committee, c/o Nebraska Press Association, 845 “S” Street, Lincoln, NE 68508 or email@example.com. Applications must be postmarked by Feb. 19, 2016.
Announcement of the scholarship awards will be made at the noon luncheon of the Nebraska Press Association Annual Convention, April 23, 2016, at the Holiday Inn and Convention Center in Kearney, Neb.
