While reporters should question authority, they should do so in a professional manner, writes Fred Hiatt, editorial page editor of the Washington Post.

Rather than take sides or serve as the opposition to the president, reporters should simply do their jobs – investigate, question authority and note the problems within the systems and policies in addition to what is working well. In other words, don’t take sides. Be as objective as possible – but tell the truth in regards to the administration’s policies.
